A few years ago I mentioned to a friend of mine that the new Yankee Stadium was a joke (in reference to its hitter-friendly dimensions). He exploded, Are you kidding me?? What about Fenway Park? Now, that is a joke! I agreed that hitting a high-fly ball to left field at the Fens did account for some home runs that would not have reached the seats in other ballparks, but I also argued that the Green Monster probably took away as many home runs as it yielded. And while Peskys Pole is VERY short, the wall from the pole to the seats in right field and right center gets dramatically deeper. Well, I just looked up which parks have the highest home run totals in 2014 and Yankee Stadium is number 2 while Fenway Park is 28th. Furthermore, Robinson Cano, who had consecutive years hitting 25, 29, 28, 33 and 27 HRs for the Bombers is currently stuck on 9 with the Mariners (where Safeco Field ranks 9th in yielding HRs). Interesting.....
