A few years ago I phoned several funeral homes in Jacksonville (FL), planning ahead for my mom, and Eternity had the best prices. But I also liked them best; they were personable and friendly, and not artificially inflated, if you know what I mean. They seemed like genuine people directly involved in their work, rather than people putting on a dignified professional demeanor. It wasnt surprising to learn that this has always been a family-owned business, and they are faithful Christian believers. Everything was just so easy, natural, and relaxed. An example: today my sister and I were looking at their display of urns (our mom wanted cremation), and the young lady who was helping us came back in the room with a hand-carved wooden box. You can have this if you like, free, she said. She told us that people sometimes donate containers, like that one, and she was just passing it on to us. The office manager told me that they provide funeral care for the city of Jacksonville, for the poor and homeless. Last year they took care of a thousand indigent people who died in Jacksonville. Im not likely to be a repeat customer; I dont expect to have to make decisions for other family members who die in Jacksonville. But they treated me like I was the only customer they had. Other funeral homes could learn a lot from Eternity.
