A few years back a friend of mine was putting on a comedy about a wedding and he asked me to write a naughty verse for a congratulations card that the bridesmaid would read out at the reception. Heres what I gave him... Just when you think you’ll never meet The One who’ll sweep you off your feet You feel a little prick, from cupid’s dart Pierce the centre of your heart Ah soul mate, kindred spirit, chum Now two come together and succumb She pulls him off the market double quick As he’s no ordinary Harry, Tom or Dick Head to matrimony that’s the plan To become a wife and get her man So to be sure to win her master, baits her line Enchant enthral entrance to ensure their lives entwine She turns on all her charms him to beguile And he decides to take her up the aisle And so on this your Wedding Day As you proclaim your love that’s here to stay And as the happy congregation sing Her finger slips inside his ring At the vow of adoration that he swore She smiles at fella she oh so truly does adore And looking forward to the years of wedded bliss They seal their lasting union with a kiss.
