A first hand account on the claims that Buhari quelled the Maitaisine insurgency. Pls read.... All this one Fidelis Albert and his cohorts are going on about the overpowering of Maitaisine being Buharis achievement...LONG THING my brother. Am probably slightly older than you or within the same age bracket. I was about 8 when that Insurgent religious group was wiped out for good. I personally witness the terror they unleashed on civilians as our official residence at the time shared a fence with Chad....no joke!!. I have done my research, not from books or Facebook but directly from my own biological father, a Retired Superintendent of Police who at the time was an Assistant Superintendent under the auspices of the Nigerian Mobile Police Force, Maiduguri. My brilliant and rugged father led the troop which finally wiped out the insurgent group. Maitaisine was wiped out in 1983 just before Buhari and his 2IC Idiagbon took over power from Shagari by a coup de tat in 1984. I can give you a blow by blow account of how the insurgents were brought down cos I was privileged to have the OC in charge of the Mobile Police squad in the same house, under the same roof as my father.
