A flush, not a point, but Bella got a big ol rooster for me today. Follow her on the hunt. Note how she pauses, inhales deeply, then takes off on the chase. Rooster pheasants this late in the season rarely hold for a point. Those that did, are dead. Runners live longer lives! But it was a nice, near flush, and I didnt fail Bella, dropping the bird with one shot. She made a nice retrieve, then it was back to the truck for lunch. You can see the rooster flying, if you look closely. In any case, we had a good day on the prairie. Many, many miles walked. Both of us are pooped. One lovely bird taken. Much bird sign seen, and Bella was birdy most of the day. But we couldnt get near them. Smart, smart birds. I had one shot today. Thank goodness I didnt miss! Enjoy hunting with Bella the Wonderdog!
