A follow up to a previous note(which I appreciate not everyone is going to agree with, but thats fine, we have our tissues ready for when we cry and stuff). :) You can see the link to the league table for the Under 20s. It makes for depressing reading. Only two clubs in all of Scotland are worse - ICT and Ross County. They maybe have geographic reasons why they happen to be so weak in that area(not sure). We have the grand total of 11pts from 12games. We have won only three and lost seven. We have scored 17 goals(not too bad), and have shipped 30(which is shocking). It is true that Rangers are only three points ahead of us, but they have played two games less. Even Dunfermline are above us. We can dismiss it entirely and say it doesnt matter, but I think that it does matter. Hearts just got taken apart by St Mirren to the tune of seven goals, and that should be seen as a shameful scoreline, for any of our teams, first team or academy side. If I was coaching them and they had lost seven nil, I would certainly feel personal shame. I would certainly expect my employers to take at least a casual glance and wonder if I was doing my job well enough. It definitely does matter, since there has never been a time when getting battered every week and being rubbish is good for anyones development. I want to see a winning mentality instilled at all levels. The first team have it under Neilson. The under 20 team(which has often been aided by experienced players) do not have it. If they had it then it would be reflected in their league table, and if they had it, St Mirren would not have put seven goals past them. While it is true that one or two of these lads may get some part of a game in our first team(this season), this in itself is not really evidence that the under 20s are being brilliantly run imo(a player could simply be getting a run in spite of not because of..). We all make mistakes, Neilson hasnt made many(incredibly few for someone of 34). I have a feeling(backed up by those stats) that he has made a mistake with his choice of under 20s coach(nothing against him personally). I simply think the hard data and somewhat shocking results mean that we could probably get someone better. I dont really know who, but I doubt he is the best we can get. I am not suggesting a with hunt against the guy or anything, however, at the same time every employee at Hearts must be accountable for their work. Its definitely something Levein and Neilson need to at least think about. Id maybe look to Stephane Adam, Gary Naysmith or even Skacel. heartsfc.co.uk/table/youths
