A free screening of UNITED IN ANGER - a powerful and inspiring documentary by Jim Hubbard about the birth and life of the AIDS activist movement ACT UP and utilizes oral histories as well as rare archival footage to depict the efforts of the movement as it battles corporate greed, social indifference, and government neglect. Also screening will be SIMPLY ROB, the award-winning short documentary by Tom Shrapnel, a portrait of Bronx based Poet Rob Vassilarakis. Diagnosed with HIV when he was 22, Rob recites his turbulent life story through his evocative poetry. With post-screening discussion with filmmaker Jim Hubbard and poet Rob “Simply Rob” Vassilarakis.
