A friend and I were debating what a Christian is. She thought that by attending Church faithfully and volunteering for this and that it brings her closer to God. She stared at me with open mouth when I gave her my opinion about what a Christian is: A person who tries every day to make a difference in someone elses life, especially if there is not an audience to applaud their action and good works, even if its just to put a smile on a sad persons face. Someone who tries very hard every day to be a better person and tries daily to live by the Teachings of our Maker. Someone who doesnt beat their chest proclaiming to the world what good Christians they are, but who just quietly do what is right. I am a Catholic by choice, but I do not believe for one moment that God loves me any less because I do not attend Church. I have known way too many judgemental Churchgoers, who will smile and shake their neighbors hand in Church and then not greet them on the street. My friend thinks because I do not go to Services regularly I will burn in Hell. I have my Faith, and I try to practice it quietly. After all, God is everywhere not just in Churches. He can be communicated with anywhere. She is praying for my Soul, and I thanked her, because none of us can ever be prayed for enough. Well, my thought for the day :-)
