A friend as old as me who has been subjected to a lot of oppression at work during the last two years, discovered that he has developed proteinuria and also has oedema. Mercifully, his creatinine and urea are normal; I hope it is only some acute issue. He has both diabetes and hypertension, and doctors in his city apparently ignored trace protein a year ago. He will undergo kidney biopsy tomorrow to shed light on kidney status. I see some issues here: mental oppression and lack of remedies at the workplace, low concern even among doctors in his city about trace albumin. The question then arises: is your job worth anticipated medical expenditure, if pressures are unmitigated? The opportunity cost in terms of neglected health may simply be too high.
