A friend forwarded me the following: Good afternoon South Texas College, With the deadline fast approaching, we are not sure whether or not the organizers of a tax rollback election petition will submit their petition to the Board of Trustees. The College stands prepared to receive the petition if submitted within the statutory requirements: · President’s Office will be open to receive any submission for the Board on the day of the deadline. · Technology Resources has developed a database matching system to compare names on the petition to the Hidalgo and Starr County Registered Voter databases. They will verify that the signers are registered voters of Hidalgo or Starr County and tabulate the number of valid signatures. · Employees from several departments will be available to come in for this petition validation process, should they be needed. I will share with all of you as soon as possible whether or not any petition is received by the deadline.
