A friend from a nearby country inboxed me. Obi, what is going on in Nigeria? The story of horror. This is the worst carnage I heard of about this sect. My reply: My brother its a complex one and I cant elaborate much. There has been a state of emergency and heavy military presence in the region for 12 months over this despicable insurgency. Somewhere along the line the politicians of the region began to say our soldiers are Boko Haram. That troops should be withdrawn from troubled areas. One sitting governor and former Naval Chief even wrote a long letter claiming that the terrorists were from some a certain clan residing in the other extreme part of the country. Many from the region hailed him. Those who did not eventually threw him out of office. Government locked lower parliament gates to prevent antagonistic parliamentarians from vetoing continued occupation of the region but they jumped an eight feet gate, old and young, came into the building, sat and blocked further extension of the presence of federal troops in the area. Its rather unfortunate, 200 or 2000 is too much wasted humanity altogether to serve as a lesson to antagonists that hatred of government and the army is not enough reason to give blood thirsty vagabonds unfettered access to your women and children. One way of killing this Boko menace is to stop being sentimental about who is in government or not, who is in charge of the military or not, and start being objective about the need put an end to it....- Sailor 14/1/15
