A friend had told me on Monday that my name had come up during worship at Pleasant Valley Church in Winona the day before. Brian Menk, a teacher at Lewiston-Altura High School and the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach had evidently shared this testimony and mentioned my name. My mothers sister, my Aunt Esther Stensland, had given me a small New Testament (Red Letter) with Psalms for Christmas in 1969, with the express instruction to carry it with me when I went to Vietnam in January of 1970. Its a beautiful little book from Cambridge, England, bound in French Morocco Leather. She had written in the back a reference to fifteen different passages for me to read. I left for RVN after getting drafted after my first year of teaching in Lewiston. When Brian received orders for Iraq more than 30 years later, I gave him The Word to carry over there, and back. Subsequently, my New Testament has also had a tour in Afghanistan. My younger sister Beckys daughter is married to Taylor Gingrich. Taylor had The Word with him. He is home safe as well. It is good work that my Aunt Esther has done! Praise the Lord! RVN - January to December of 1970 - SGT Mark Reisetter, Co C, 1/327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. Iraq - March, 2003 to March, 2004 - SSG Brian Menk, 724 Engineer BN Najil, Afghanistan - October, 2010 to July, 2011 - 2LT Taylor Gingrich, Co A, 1/133 Infantry What an articulate, sincere, and inspiring testimony, Brian! Im proud to know you, brother-in-arms and brother-in-Christ!
