A friend, in England, jokingly commented on my constant posts in support and defense of Israel. His argument...to paraphrase...was: enough already. And the truth is that I understood his point. If a situation is not dire or important to you then receiving or seeing constant posts about that subject is annoying at the very least. Im sure I have friends that want to follow my posts but dont want to read the many articles that I post on Israel. I thought seriously about limiting my facebook advocacy of Israel but ultimately I have decided not to change my behavior. I will still post and share the articles and posts that I feel best reveal the largely anti-semitic anti-Israel bias, reveal the corruption of the UN in addressing matters related to Israel, reveal that Israels defense and method of defense is justified, and reveal the insidiousness of the goals of its enemies. By way of explanation for my decisions, know this: 1. I am an Israeli citizen 2. My mother was born in Israel one year after the UN recognized it as a State 3. My grandfather escaped to Israel after American soldiers liberated him from a camp in the Holocaust 4. My grandfathers entire immediate family aside from his brother (who emigrated to Israel and then Brazil) was murdered by anti-semitic violence during World War II. 5. Besides my grandfather who lived in Tel Aviv until his recent passing, my cousins and dear friends reside in Israel. 6. Israel is, has been and will always be my religious homeland. I know it may be tiring for those that dont care to see the posts. But this is a matter that is of utmost importance and urgency for me. I feel that it is the least that I can do while Israel is under attack from not only constant rocket fire, but also the virulent anti-semitic attack of its political enemies. I am guided by the maxim from the famous Rabbi Hillel who wrote (as memorialized in the Jewish book of ethics Ethics of our Fathers 1:14): Hillel says, If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?
