A friend is hosting a womens retreat with $375 tickets at a resort this weekend. She asked me to perform fire a month ago, in exchange for taking the workshops and covering my gas and board. Well, it came down to it, and she cant offer me any help with with gas (its 2.5 hours away) and I have to pay for my own room. I really was okay with it at first, because I wanted to be a part of it, but I woke up this morning and reversed the roles. She is a chef: If I asked her to come to my party and cook for free, no, put $75 into the food of her own money, wont provide gas, and her compensation is some professional photos! I mean, she would have been offended. Also, when I asked her to at least cover the room or give me a discount, she told me to contact the owners of the resort and discuss it with them. I called her and put my foot down. Either its no cost to me, or Im not doing it. I am feeling vulnerable and I hate doing this, but really?! Why are we always an afterthought?? The essential oils teacher is getting paid! Im playing with fire and insured?
