A friend of OSBAG has emailed some questions to admissions@occ. We liked them so much we wanted to share them... Please could you clarify: the assumptions you have used to calculate the savings the actual figures you have used to calculate the savings the calendarised cash-flow, showing any additional costs during transition and then any longer-term savings coming on-stream the over time point at which cumulative savings overtake cumulative transition costs and the change shows a positive financial return the hidden costs attaching to mitigating impact on schools adversely affected by changes (reduced roll at Burford, say) and accommodating changes (new capacity required at Carterton, say) the macro financial assessment of costs of change to the Council, bearing in mind not just in project costs but also system costs (changes to fabric and staff at Burford and Carterton, for example). Without any supportive commentary on how the savings figures have been arrived at, it is difficult to respond from an informed perspective to the current consultation. and the second... Hello, Team, and congratulations on the provision of maps as part of the current consultation. It is clear that much work has gone in to providing a clearer understanding of the impact of the proposals. Please could you clarify: which addresses have you used for the dots associated with any particular school - are they homes of people who currently use a homeschool bus service, perhaps and, if so, are they ALL those homes? Or are they all addresses of children and young people in school? Or are they all known postal addresses around each school?? how have you associated each particular dot with its nearest Secondary - is this a crow flies, or a County GIS by road, or a County GIS including footpaths etc. as might offer shortest walking route reckoning? has any safety / fitness for purpose assessment been made, in this round of consultation, on the suitability of walking routes - we recall this issue caused quite some concern in the Summer, especially but not only around walking from Kennington to TOA? would it be possible to draw maps which comprised the A-Z street gazetteer information and the boundaries between nearest-school territories - so that we could see more easily for each school the actual break-down in roads / hamlets / villages as they fall into neighbouring schools territories? would it be possible also to include on the maps (as above) the existing designated area (catchment) information? Some of these questions are about understanding how the maps are prepared, some about developing an even clearer picture, and some are prompted by seeming inaccuracies in the plots. For example of this last, consider some of the yellow and green dots on the Burford map around Minster Lovell; it doesnt immediately seem sensible for there to be stripes of yellow dots (Wood Green) amongst the green (Carterton CC)?
