A friend of mine commented to me a few months ago that a shutdown for the government would be a bad thing for the Republicans. He mentioned that when the House shut down during the Clinton administration the Republicans were the losers in the upcoming elections. I disagreed with him citing that some seats were lost and in the other side of Congress a few seats were gained. Shutting down the government is a no win for anyone. But can be avoided if the members of Congress would understand what the American people want. For the most part the debt ceiling and cutting the budget are a major concern. But the idea that the Republicans would lose in the polls has me lost with that notion. In New Jersey the senate race was almost decidedly won by a Democrat named Cory Booker. A very visible candidate who is a Democrat and very liberal. He is the mayor of Newark if I am not mistaken. I heard a pundit that it was already decided that Booker would be the next Senator from New Jersey. However, the Conservatives in the state have not given up. A man named Steve Lonegan a true conservative and a Tea Party favorite is still in the fight. Why? Because the poll numbers for Booker have dropped considerably giving Lonegan a good chance to become the next senator from New Jersey. The Washington Times calls Bookers poll numbers a free fall. With this, King Obama is concern and has turned his attention to protecting his liberal Senate. Obama sprung into action and filmed a last-ditch TV spot yesterday -- in an effort to promote Cory Booker and to protect his liberal Senate majority. Tomorrow the people of the Garden State will make the final decision if they want to protect the liberal Senate and the protectors of King Obama’s socialist government or will vote to send the message that it is “We the People”. I hope that it is the latter and when the final vote is tallied we will have another Conservative in the Senate which will help put this country back on the road of recovery.
