A friend of mine from work, Charmaine Wilson Bender, wanted me to use some money for my trip down to Chicago and very kindly gave me some money. I got confused and tried to explain that everything I got I had to give to the fundraiser. She insisted that I do something for myself, but she did not understand that I was doing exactly that. This fundraiser is a gateway to a time in my life when I felt things were very simple. When doing good was the only thing that mattered. Running led to the article, the article led to the fundraiser, the fundraiser has provided the Red Cross with resources to help people. I am proud to be part of that.
