A friend of mine shared this, and it deeply touched me, as it has so many others. 1995, my graduation year (yes, Im dating myself), I had a close friend who was 95 years old. I made friends with her when I was asked to take her grocery shopping, where she and I would check out guys for each other, and she would insist on taking me to lunch, because a local cafe sold soup and a scone together, and she loved them. I remember the day that I saw those little, decades-old, cracked and worn shoes, sticking out of the back of an ambulance in front of her home, and realized Id just lost my best friend. She was one of several, older friends and family I loved over the years, but Ive never stopped thinking about her when things like this pop up.
