A friend of mine was looking to hire someone to manage his business, and when the applications came in, he gave each candidate a quick search on Facebook! The "real life" profile and information he was able to gather from doing this proved much more valuable than the words on an application form. For instance he learnt one of them was highly racist, another one had pictures of themselves wielding knives in provocative poses, and another one had even written about how they enjoyed being unemployed and how unenthusiastic they were about this particular job prospect! - This all went against the image of the company. You need to protect your business, so use Facebook to your advantage. The other side of the coin is: Be careful what you post publicly on Facebook, you never know who is watching!
