A friend of mine, who happens to be an atheist, wrote posts that made me worry about his well being. Many of my friends from Alabama were concerned for him and said how sorry they were that he was having problems and that they would pray for him. He is pretty pissed off at us Christians for doing what we do when someone we care about is hurting - praying. I cant be there to give you a hug. I cant bring you comfort food and sit with you while you hash out your problems, but I can pray to God for your safety and I can pray to God that your happiness returns. I wont stop being your friend because we have a difference in religious beliefs because my religious beliefs say that I am not to turn my back on people in need. As my friend Charlotte Jackson says, I love you and there is nothing you can do about it. To all my other friends who offered to pray...keep on keeping on!
