A friend posted a video, I assume to be inflammatory, and spark outrage and disgust, of various scenes from within a slaughter house. Now heres my thoughts (if anyone cares). We have been omnivores, hunters and gatherers, since we became a part of this planet. We need protein in order to survive. Even vegetarians and vegans cant deny this fact. Modern science and agriculture allow people the option of declining to eat animal protein, but without knowledge of which plants provide the right amount and the correct type of protein to ensure survival of the human organism, eating vegetables only and nothing else would cause a person to become malnourished and die. My point is, we were designed to eat other animals. Other animals eat other animals. Whether an animal is raised humanely is a very important concern, and we have a moral obligation to ensure the humane treatment of animals. But some animals for us, are food, and someone needs to kill the animal. And in a society of millions of people, the killing of these animals becomes, as a necessity, kind of like an assembly line at a factory. I guess what Im trying to say is, if you dont want to eat meat, thats fine, but stop trying to shame me for following my nature, and eating animals. I am no different than the leopard that eats the elk, the lion that eats the wildebeest, the hawk that eats the snake, or even the snake that eats the the rodent. And I still maintain that without all the comforts of modern society, eventually any human being, no matter how moral or well intentioned, would become hungry enough to kill an animal and eat it.
