A friend posted the cold Missouri River song I shared earlier. Had not heard it in a long time. Made me cry and think about fire fighting experiences of long ago. Here is another version of this sad song about this historical event. You can also read the book Young Men & Fire published in the early 90s, it gives a moving and accurate account of the tragedy at Mann Gulch.The author was Norman Maclean -and his book featured extensive interviews with the three survivors. Great book for old firefighters and people who want to know more about western fires and how unpredictable they are. There have been a lot of tragedies since Mann Gulch.
