A friend recently defended American Democracy on the basis of its built-in checks and balances, the three branches intended to reign in any singular power (like another Hitler). But the current model does absolutely nothing to reign in the power of a singular party (or does it?). Speaking of Hitler, he was elected as head of his party, and his party was elected into office. Once they all had power, a legal law was passed giving him dictatorial control. So what system is built into the American Democracy to prevent that from happening here?
