A friend sent me an email she received AT work from co-workers asking to sign a petition that says their union will join the BDS movement against Israel and that they stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people against more than a century of Zionist colonialism, dispossession, ethnic cleaning, racism, apartheid and genocide -- including Israels very establishment. Beyond this clear HR violation, it saddens me that people are so freaking CLUELESS. You know what is a genocide? 500k-1 million people murdered in Rwanda over a 100 day period. (20% of the country). 500k+ Armenians were massacred over two years in present-day Turkey (who now hypocritically blames Israel for genocide.) Six million jews, my ancestors, systematically murdered in World War II, 60+ million total deaths in that war alone. Ethnic cleansing happened in Yugoslavia where 130,000+ lost their lives. Syria is at 170,000 killed and still going strong, including whole towns completely rid of any Christian people. How should Israel respond when its lacking any form of a real peace partner? Only hours ago, a mutually agreed upon 72 hour humanitarian cease-fire began and two hours in was broken by Hamas (no surprise there). Just heard word that Hamas is proudly publicizing that they have kidnapped an Israeli soldier in Rafah. Seven Israeli soldiers were murdered this morning from mortar shells outside of the Gaza border. A field hospital set up by Israelis is standing empty because Hamas wont let Palestinians who are injured use it. How can people still think that this is a war Israel wanted? Israelis know that if we stop fighting back Hamas wont stop until we are all gone. They regularly call out for OUR genocide. They want a state ethnically cleansed of any Jews. This is in their charter and yet the world ignores it. AS SALAAM ALAIKUM
