A friend was thinking about buying a new house in the country and asked me to come out and look at it. We found the town, but we couldnt locate the road. We drove over to city hall, where a community get-together was going on, and asked around, but no one had heard of the road. Even the policemen and fire personnel were stumped. We went in to city hall and consulted a map, with no luck, until finally one young man came to our aid. He pointed to the map, showing us exactly how to get there. I thanked the young man and asked if he was with the police or fire department. Neither, he replied. I deliver pizzas. A couples lawn mower was broken, and the wife kept hinting to her husband that he should get it repaired. But the message never sunk in. She finally thought of a way to make her point. One day the husband arrived home to find her seated in the grass busily snipping away with a pair of scissors. He watched silently for a short time, and then went into the house. He returned a few moments later, handed her a toothbrush and said, When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the sidewalk. The doctors say he should be able to walk again, but always have the limp. An irritated father complained to his golf buddy, When I was a kid, my parents sent me to my room without supper if I misbehaved. But my son has his own TV, telephone, computer, and every computer game and CD player in his room! So how do you handle it? his friend asked. I send him to MY room! The night before we were to attend a celebrity golf tournament, my friend Irene went to a party in honor of the event. Several of the famous athletes who were playing in the tournament were at the door, greeting guests. Among them was Joe Montana, the pro football Hall of Fame quarterback and Super Bowl winner. Shaking Irenes hand, he said, Hi! Joe Montana. Well, Irene didnt know Joe Montana from Joe Six-Pack, so in all sincerity she extended her hand and said, Irene. Minnesota.
