A friend will tell you What you NEED to hear To encourage you to move forward....... When they keep telling you What you WANT to hear, they may be saying so because they have an ulterior motive. They may not have your happiness at heart..... There is a difference between EMPATHY & SYMPATHY...... When you Empathize, you feel for them, but let them know the way it is.... When you Sympathize, you dont tell them what they need to hear, and that can sometimes allow them to think It is ok to be where they are, they see your sympathy as a ticket to staying where they are because they feel someone is kind of agreeing with them.....
