A full moon casted its light over the Sunday League Recreational - TopicsExpress

A full moon casted its light over the Sunday League Recreational Sports Complex (Bialik) as the game started. The undermanned Sunday League side went to battle against the Redbacks or some shit. Whispers of foul play from the Redbacks went around the arena as reports had arisen that they had reportedly stolen Tangs shoes which delayed him from arriving to the match on time. The team was also without leading goalscorer, Beale, due to him competing against Usain Bolt in a slam poetry competition. Yan was now in goal with Beale absent. Alas, the game had begun and the Sunday League had adopted some new possession based tactics. The game started well with a string of passes from Marsden and Miao to Shorten and Clarke, but it was Shorten, the left foot wizard, who opened the bank with a lovely left foot shot into the near post and in. It was looking good for the team. A corner was awarded a few minutes later where Clarke crossed just outside the box for Miao, with an Angus Ritchie-esque finish. It was smooth sailing until,on the eve of half time, their opponents brought one back with a sweaty goal. The buzzer rang and the team retreated to the sidelines pleased with their efforts. The second half was a different tale with fatigue starting to set in. A couple of minutes in, the Redbacks had a set piece from the southern sideline and smashed it aimlessly into the box. Giveth and taketh away, Miao, in a desperate attempt to protect the goal, had put it into the back of the net. Shock and awe filled the stadium. Is there no god? cried a supporter attempting to hold back tears. The game continued in a similar fashion with outstanding play from Sunday League however to no avail. After some pathetic timewasting from their opponents, who were clearly quaking in their boots at the possibility of Sunday League getting the better of them, the final buzzer rang out throughout the stadium. FINAL SCORE: Sunday League 2 - 2 Redbacks Expect to see some footage of the game uploaded in the future. An overall solid performance, especially for the first game using a possession based gameplan. Expect more big things coming in the future weeks.
