A fun afternoon with God, kids and my meditation book! Yesterday, - TopicsExpress

A fun afternoon with God, kids and my meditation book! Yesterday, as we sat in our back yard eating sugar cane, my kids decided they wanted to see if God would speak to them through my meditation book, the way He speaks to me, and they proceeded to ask God questions, then randomly opened the book to see if they would find an answer. Here’s how that incredibly went: Question: Do I talk too much like mommy says I do? Book page randomly opened to: “Chapter 10: Of avoiding Useless Words … I often wish that I had kept silence, and that I had not been in company.” Question: Should mommy have stopped to give that crippled man money today? Book page randomly opened to: “Chapter 15: Of Works Done Out of Charity… but whatever is done with charity, be it ever so little and contemptible, all becomes fruitful. For God regards more with how much affection and love a person performs a work, than how much is done.” Question: Will mommy and I ever have peace? (The teenage years… aye carumba!) Book page randomly opened to: “Chapter 23: Four things which bring great peace… My child, now I will teach you the way of peace and of true liberty. Try, my child, to do the will of another rather than your own. (Listen to your mother!) Always choose to have less rather than more (Stop being so selfish!) Always seek to take the last place, and be subject to everyone (Help out sometimes without me asking!) Always desire and pray that the will of God be perfectly fulfilled in you. Behold a person so disposed, enters within the confines of peace and quiet.” Question from me reading later to myself: Was I on the right track today when I wrote encouraging everyone to ask: “How can I be my most loving self in every moment, every example and every experience” Book: “The end of the Commandments, as St Paul says, is love, which comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. … Hence, St Paul the Apostle tells us TO DO ALL THINGS FOR LOVE, BECAUSE THIS VIRTUE GIVES MERIT AND VALUE TO ALL ACTIONS.” And in regards to that difficult person in my life right now, how do I deal with them? Book: “Chapter 16: Of bearing the defects of Others… Whatever you cannot amend in yourself or others, you must bear with patience, until God ordains it otherwise. Think that perhaps it is better for your trial and patience, without which our merits are worth little. You must nevertheless, under such hindrances, earnestly pray that God may vouchsafe to help you, and that you may bear them well.” So funny that the last thing I wrote in that post about this person was, “Last, but not least, continue to pray and ask for God’s help in this!” Thanks for all the answers! That was lots of fun spooking my kids out like that! WE GO WITH GOD!
