A fundamental problem in Science and philosophy today is the ridiculous habit of attempting to define objects. This video gives us a bit of a glimpse into the mind of those who irrationally seek to define particular objects. https://youtube/watch?v=3Zw04hraCVo The most important quote from this video is: How do we know what cat means? Is it as simple as pointing at the animal we call, cat and then saying the word? 20th century philosopher Derrida would say, no. We dont get the meaning of cat quite so easily, language is a bit more complicated. How can people possibly think this way? Well, they answer that right in the video. Derrida says, There is no reference point outside of text. So there you have it. These numbskulls have forgotten that we actually CAN use words within a specific context to unambiguously refer to someTHING outside of text or other linguistic concepts alone. We CAN and DO routinely reference OBJECTS (i.e. that which has shape) by pointing to the shape as we name it. How these well-educated idiots can miss this basic fact of human communication is beyond me.
