A gentleman has contacted Debbie Yates of Irlam,Cadishead and District Local History Society about a possible civil war in 1817 between Irlam and Cadishead. He stated that he had read of such a thing on the internet but cannot now find it. Debbie asked if I would post on Facebook to see if anyone knows anything. For myself, I have read of such a thing twice. One was in a book Salford. An Illustrated History although I would point out that a few things in the book seem questionable and a few images in the book had incorrect information. I also read of this on a local blog type page some years ago which stated it was around 1917. I believe the date was a typo and the poster meant 1817 around about but the information could have come from the book I already mentioned. On the other hand,I would not rule it out altogether as I am often coming across local people that know about things that may not even be in any documents or books.
