A girl who calls herself Ariel Ann FruityRunner on YouTube talks a little about the movie Cowspiracy. I saw the movie myself yesterday, a movie about animal agriculture, environmental issues (like destruction of rainforest and consequences of global warming), sustainability and industry conspiracy (no exaggeration that heavy economic interests are involved, even amazingly difficult for environmental organizations to put meat production on the agenda), to mention some of the questions this thought-provoking documentary raises. I dont really know if some or a lot of the claims are exaggerated, but it certainly didnt make me reconsider going meatless or dairy-free. It did however make me just think about the question whether or not meat production, or even dairy production is sustainable at all, not that I think I know the answer, and I have recently seen in another documentary, (a British documentary called «How to feed the planet») that up to 100 grams (3,5 ounces) of meat a day for each person on the planet can be sustainable. Cowspiracy goes a lot further and asks questions about the sustainability of dairy, eggs and fish as well, but I dont know if eating insects is the only sustainable way for the planet when it comes to animal protein, even though insects are not mentioned in this movie that strongly advocates a plant based diet. An opinion in this movie is also that grass-fed meat is among the least sustainable production methods, although, as pointed out in another movie, Food Inc, it is generally a lot nicer to the animals and it is very possible that the risk factors of eating this kind of meat can be significantly lower than the other meat production alternatives. Is grass-fed beef a solution or a lie, and are the claims in Cowspiracy mostly true or exaggerated speculations? I honestly dont know, but the movie certainly made a strong impression :) https://youtube/watch?v=GSCgmZXMioA
