A glimmer into my personal Hashimoto/Hypothyroid journey. My endo - TopicsExpress

A glimmer into my personal Hashimoto/Hypothyroid journey. My endo wanted to wait until further tests were done on my kidneys to add t3 to my regimen. I am not converting t4 to t3 efficiently. Blood sugars are great. Vitamin/mineral deficiencies corrected. Adrenals/hormones are great. Liver is great. TSH right at 2, t4 perfect range. t3...not so much. Seemingly, it all boils down to my kidneys. The majority of conversion between t4 to t3 happens in the liver and kidneys. I had a very bad immune response to NDT and it somehow triggered several consecutive kidney infections that finally discovered a tumor in my kidney. I was changed to Levothyroxine and have not had any problems with my kidneys since. My kidney function (eGFR), BTW is normal. I have had kidney failure twice since childhood and have never had a kidney infection prior to taking NDT (natural dessicated thyroid). Anyway...finally clearance to go on the t3. I have taken it exactly 23 days now and this morning is the first morning in a very long time that I have been able to wake up quickly and without hesitation. Sigh. Just wanted to share a baby step for me in this life changing journey....maybe it will help bring to light a piece in your puzzle.
