A glimpse into factory farming and industrial food processing of - TopicsExpress

A glimpse into factory farming and industrial food processing of animal products in China, which now has the worlds largest chicken and pig production operations. Notice that the exhausted factory workers are also victims of industrialization, which kills the soul through mind-numbing work and removing the human being from what we truly need: nature, community, a compassionate connection with animals. All that is missing on the assembly line. The animals themselves are treated as mere objects. Their desires and emotions and their most basic needs are completely ignored their whole lives. The bit at the end, showing obese fast food consumers, is very telling as well. The consumer dehumanizes himself by being part of this process. In a sense, it is a glimpse into hell. The Sanskrit term samsara from Buddhism is also appropriate, and is the title of the film. It means the endless cycle of birth and death, sustained by illusion. Liberation from samsara - moksa, or enlightenment -- requires standing apart from consumerism and industrialism and meat consumptionm and standing for social justice and compassion for animals, as advanced by engaged Buddhisms interpretation of the boddhisattva vow.
