A good article. Good, not great. It continues with the intellectual fallacy that population growth is something we just have to live with indefinitely, no matter the consequences. Fertility rates are the result of aggregate choices by individuals and policymakers. Those choices can and must change towards favouring small families, embracing childlessness, accepting the inevitable ageing of overpopulated societies, and making it very clear that pro-natalist discourse and traditions are irresponsible and no longer acceptable. Unfortunately, this self-evident truth — we must stop destroying the carrying capacity of an already over-extended planet even as we add another 3 billion people — has gotten muddied by some people on both sides.
