A good article about how businesses fail, but more importantly how they failed due to making good choices ~ possibly missing the disruptive behavior around them. This is for any industry. Clay Christensen, an LDS Harvard professor, and great missionary author, wrote his thesis on why businesses fail and how innovation & disruptive behavior changed the business landscape. Disrupt or be disrupted, a quote by a successful venture capitalist quoted on never keep any business too long. The author of this article questions Christensens theories and adds her own matter of fact reasoning. A little long, but worth the read as we take some of the basic common sense decisions in building businesses, but may be blinded sided by a smaller, less expensive, and less quality competitor who eventually dominates the market through disruptive behavior. Great insights, and worth the read for those business minded.
