A good primer as to why all the anti-welfare rhetoric one hears is - TopicsExpress

A good primer as to why all the anti-welfare rhetoric one hears is all wrong. There are ideological underpinnings to it that, if one thinks about it, purvey ridiculous-sounding stories about welfare queens and people using their welfare money to buy lobster, which ultimately dont make sense. Of course, it also acknowledges that some people game the system. But those cases are very far and few between, and yet they become evidence of rampant fraud that is used to justify cutting the social safety net. Much of the time, its just people who honestly face difficult times, and who really would need to treat themselves, but cant. Be wary of the divide-and-conquer rhetoric that stereotypes and demonizes those who arent as fortunate.
