“A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.” - TopicsExpress

“A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.” (Psalm 111:10) Does this mean obedience makes us brilliant? Do we suddenly get smarter when we obey? Is our IQ increased? No, not at all. So, what does it mean? The rebellious do not want to feel lost. To enjoy their sin (or sinful traditions) they convince themselves that the things they reject are not really biblical. It makes them feel good in their lost condition, but they are only self-deceived. Once we decide that His word matters more than our ideas – and we die to self, so that He might live in us - our self-deception dissipates. We end up with “a good understanding” because we have chosen to “do His commandments” out of love. Oddly - once you have this understanding - all the self-centered arguments for continued lawlessness begin to look childish and ignorant. But, do the arguers see it? No, they have no understanding. How could they?
