A great day for a DNS !! this was supposed to be the Kokopelli classic 8 mile trail race for me....I checked the weather satellite beforehand and all I saw was orange & red for miles back across Utah. :O I did pick up my packet and was pinning my bib on ( the 16 milers had just been sent off ) when at first a bright rainbow shone against the black clouds. Then there was a bolt of lightning and the skies opened up a deluge!!! The runners all scattered in a mad dash like rabbits to their cars ...that is when I decided to pull the plug. I dont know if they would try to regroup and still do the race but I dont see how they could in these conditions. So I went home and tried to do a quick 4 mile loop of the hood between showers. I got as far as the golf course club house when the lightning sirens went off ! I made a mad dash back to the house and got thoroughly soaked but did dodge the lightning bolts ! Guess Ill live to run another day..put me down for 2.75 miles....fast ones :)
