A great man has fallen leaving behind the legacy of Purpose and Vision! I was shocked when I heard the bad news of the tragic accident that caused the death of Dr. Myles Munroe. It was unbelievable… I realized how life is fragile and in fact too short. Hearing this made me think most of the things he talked and wrote about and what I’ve learnt from him. His books and sermons had so much of an influence on my life. He had an interesting way of putting his ideas in words concerning the most important things in life like potential, purpose, vision, leadership and God’s kingdom. I never forget his striking expression, in one of his books, about how the cemetery is the richest and wealthiest place on earth because most people die and are buried with their God-given gifts and talents. Lived a life lacking purpose and vision, without understanding and using their potential. He encouraged and motivated his readers to live out their purpose and vision and to die empty! Some of my favorite books are: Understanding your Potential, The Principle and Power of Vision, Burdon of Freedom, Understanding the Purpose and Power of Woman, and Waiting and Dating. When I try to see his accomplishments in life, I get a sense of him living out his God-given purpose with the life and course of time he’s been given. Of course, I believe he could have done much more, if he had lived longer. I do not know how and when I will be called or my journey comes to an end here on earth. I don’t want to live aimlessly and end up with regrets, resentment, and shame when I finally face my creator who fashioned me with the ability and potential to accomplish a certain purpose; instead to be a fulfilled faithful servant. I want to die empty! Don’t have much time to waste. May God help us all. Farewell Dr. Myles. May your soul rest in peace. You are among the people I’d look forward to meet in heaven, someday. In this time of bereavement, may the comforter and the peace that passes all understanding be with his family and friends!
