A great number of you have pushed me to take the 10 Books That Stayed With Me’ challenge on Facebook. I’ve ignored, resisted, and even refused but the pressure kept building in the form of complaints, phone calls and conversations from friends reminding me that I promised to use Facebook more actively and use it for more substantial purposes (or stop ranting about the superficial ephemera-laden post that populate my news feed). These arent necessarily my favorites but theyve influenced the way I think, feel, act, laugh and talk. I had to resist including Spiderman #1- though it really belongs there(but it needs an overlong explanation). Theres a bit of non-fiction, a few plays, and even a straight humor entry. In maintaing some semblance of rebellion to the formality of the exercise I’m challenging nobody to respond their list -unless it moves them. 1) F Scott Fitzgerald- The Great Gatsby 2 )Tony Kushner-Angels In America 3) John Kennedy Toole -A Conferderacy Of Dunces 4) Barbara Ehrenreich -Bright Sided; How The Relentless Pursuit Of Positive Thinking Is Undermining America 5) Wallace-Shawn-The Fever 6) Jonathan Franzen-The Corrections 7) Charlie Gillette-The Sound Of The City 8) George Orwell-Animal Farm 9) The Onion-Our Dumb Century 10) Richard Price-Lush Life
