A great online story on Kamon Chiamprasoet, who is a SuniTAFE trained 2nd year apprentice chef to Chef Dag Demarkow at Trentham Estate. Kamon has learnt many new things while undertaken her training at SuniTAFE and under Dag and Sous Chef Kyle Connor’s guidance. She hopes to have her own restaurant one day. Kamon talks about what she loves about being a Chef in Mildura. I’m working at Trentham Estate Winery Restaurant and studying at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE. I was lucky enough to have been involved with the Australian Culinary Federation’s AusTAFE Culinary Trophy state final and I achieved a gold medal which was very exciting! I am learning skills all the time - how to use a thermomix, cooking in a water bath and things like that. I am a 2nd year apprentice and I’m really looking forward to being fully qualified.... I have lots of great teachers at Sunraysia TAFE... but probably Brad Fyfe and Glenn Jones are my favourites. They are very good people. Q: Is there any advice you’d give a young person who’s thinking of becoming a Chef? A: Try it out if that’s what you love and practice cooking at home. Q: What do you think makes a really good Chef? A: Learn as much as you can whilst you are doing your apprenticeship and listen to the other Chefs you work with. Study hard and work hard. SuniTAFE can help you follow your passion for food, flavour and cooking. Send us a message or contact your closest campus to learn more. Whats your favourite dish to eat or cook at home or out and about? yourmildura/restaurants-mildura-chef-kamon/
