A great post about our female soldiers After being told in the MM inbox that we needed to correct ourselves when it comes to our sisters in arms, I felt we need some clarification on a couple of things. 1) When you see us post the term Brothers in arms or soldiers or Marines or Warfighters....that includes the females. We dont make the distinction because, in our hearts and minds, theres no need. Anyone, everyone who has served carries the same weight with us, regardless of gender. If we had to type brothers, sisters, mothers, cousins, sons, daughters, BFFs, in laws and female associates currently found in uniform and serving, youd never get to the point of the post. In other words, were family. Im not going to make the distinction because I dont make the distinction in my mind. 2) (And this ones on the guys) Theres a great deal of discussion regarding combat arms being open to females. There have been females running combat missions since the current conflicts started. (Ask any MP) Other countries, like our brothers in the IDF and the Aussies, have had females in their fighting elements for a long time. If theyve got the guts to attempt it, theyve got my admiration. If they meet the standard and beat it, theyre just another soldier standing to my left and right. Thats more lead down range. Lets roll. In short, hats off to anyone willing to toe the line, regardless of what latrine they use. ~J
