A great reminder of just how much we can overcome if we are - TopicsExpress

A great reminder of just how much we can overcome if we are prepared to be survivors inwardly as much as outwardly. FROM CHET WOMACH OF THE PREPPER PROJECT: 54 years ago, 300 feet above the forest in the middle of Oregon, my Grandfathers life was about to be changed forever. He had just taken off in his twin engine Piper trying to make it home to Spokane, WA on a cold winters day, when all of a sudden...Both Engines QUIT. Giving him two options: 1) Try to land on the nearby Highway 2) Try to coast back to the runway But one look at the busy highway and he was left with the latter. So he took the only chance he had and tried to coast back to the runway hed just taken off from. Sadly. He did NOT make it. The runway was simply too far away and he was forced to pitch his plane into the trees, where the 100 gallons of airplane fuel proceeded to explode on impact. But Death Refused To Claim Him That Day. As my Grandpa retold this story to me a hundred times all he remembers about the crash was waking up in a sea of fire; the flesh on his face and hands being literally burned off as he came to. Yet, somehow, some way he was able to escape the wreckage and stumble blindly towards the sound of the nearby highway where he hoped he might find help. Fortunately, he found some. His friends who had dropped him off at that airport had seen him take off and watched the whole crash. And rushing to his aid, they saw him crawl out of the woods. Even though he was in TERRIBLE shape, his friends were able to get him to the hospital where doctors were able to save his life. So why do I share this with you today? Because this last weekend was my Grandfathers funeral, and during the funeral there was a documentary played. A documentary that I found very inspiring. You see, I grew up knowing my Grandpa as the man he turned into AFTER this accident. I never knew him before. He was full of confidence, and he had turned himself into a person who refused to take on a victim mentality...and had instead used his tragic accident to help others who were going through rough times in their lives. My Grandpa never bragged about this while I knew him, but I even found out at his funeral that he had shared the stage with folks like Billy Graham. But this documentary told me a part of the story that I did not know. About how he pulled himself out of the pits of depression he found himself in when the swelling over his eyes finally subsided and he saw what hed look like for the rest of his life. I dont know where you are at in your life right now, but if youre at a low spot and need a little encouragement, I thought this might be a fitting time to pass this video along to you. So that even though my Grandfather is gone, his work of helping people pick themselves up can live on. Maybe in some ways well all need to take a few lessons from my Grandpa in the hard days coming soon for our country. While usually I try to share PHYSICAL ways to help you prepare for those tough times today I thought Id share a bit of the INNER preparation that needs to be done too. Or I should say, Ill let my Grandfather share them with you in his documentary. May his story bless and inspire you as it has me. I was truly blessed to have a Grandparent who made so much of his life, and proved such a great example. Heres to the most influential Survivor in my life... May he forever rest in peace, Chet Womach ThePrepperProject https://youtube/watch?v=vgLZlZYNtUY&feature=youtu.be
