A great tradition you can be a part of. Dear Friend, Youll remember that when Governor Patrick was first inaugurated, he opened the doors of the State House to everyone. In that same spirit, I hope youll join me as the Governor’s term comes to a close for an Open House Celebratory Reception on Sunday, January 4th and again when the Governor takes the historic Lone Walk on January 7th. The Open House Celebratory Reception on Sunday, January 4th begins at 5:00 PM sharp, with doors opening at the state house General Hooker Entrance at 4:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public but space is limited and tickets are required. If you know anyone else who is interested in coming, please forward this signup form as a limited number of tickets remain. Tickets will be required for admittance. Thank you to everyone who has already RSVPd for the Lone Walk on Wednesday, January 7th. Since 1884, departing governors have met with their successors, exchanged gifts and then taken the “lone walk,” symbolically returning to the role of private citizen. The ceremony includes a 19-gun salute. If you havent already responded, you can still reserve tickets here . There is no cost to attend either event although tickets are required, so youll need to RSVP for both events, the Lone Walk and the Reception, separately.
