A great two appointment implant case by Dr. Carlos Repullo, using CEREC, CEREC Guide, and GALILEOS. The aim of this procedure is to reduce the number of appointments and the interventions needed to complete a dental implant treatment. It only requires two appointments. First appointment. The implant is placed with help of the CEREC Guide, which includes the findings from 3D X-ray and an intraoral scan with CEREC. When the restoration is designed, we reduce the height of the crown, in order to create a customized healing cap. The original design of the crown is saved for later use before the alteration. When placing an immediate implant, it is possible to maintain the original contour of the soft tissue is preserved, thus getting a perfect natural emergence profile. Second appointment. After complete osseointegration, the final restoration can be manufactured from the design we saved on the first appointment. The subgingival part is identical to the healing cap, so that it’s simple to switch the healing cap with the permanent restoration. The purpose of this technique is: Reducing costs: By saving time. Almost all of the treatment is completed in the first appointment together with the surgical procedure. We have no soft tissue adjustments in the second appointment and therefore saves time on anaesthesia and sutures. Abutment design will also demand less time. Creating a better soft tissue contour: To ensure the longevity of the implant, proper hygiene is essential. The better the emergence profile and anatomy of the oral mucosa surrounding the implant – the better it is for the patient for easy cleaning. Together with the use of the surgical guide, we achieve the least traumatic and minimal invasive procedure, beneficial for both patient and dentist.
