A great victory for human rights and an organization I co-founded many years ago called the Center for Justice and Accountability, which helps its clients bring civil suits against human rights violators resident in the US. One of those whom CJA successfully pursued was former Salvadoran General Jose Guiellermo Garcia, who participated in the killing of Archbishop Oscar Romero in 1980 in El Salvador and the coverup following the murders of four American churchwomen later that year. Garcia has been in the Us since 1990 but has now been ordered deported for his role in those and other crimes. When I was in El Salvador this past summer, I visited Archbishop Romeros tomb and the chapel where he was gunned down. It is good to know his death has been in some small measure vindicated.
