Lake Winnipeg, Manitobas largest boreal lake, earned the ill-fated title of Threatened Lake of the Year by Global Nature Fund in 2013 largely due to the loss of surrounding wetlands and widespread agricultural runoff. It is also a haven for colonial nesting birds, waterfowl, and a variety of iconic migrants, demonstrating its not just Manitobans that stand to gain from cleaning up the lake. Citizens of Manitoba are stepping up to protect this great lake, and we couldnt be prouder of them!
