A hack attack targeting Sony film studio last week has leaked five of the companys new movies -- four of them unreleased -- online, where theyve been downloaded a collective total of more than 1.5 million times on piracy websites. The titles include the Brad Pitt WWII flick Fury, which was released only last month and is still in cinemas, and four films that have yet to hit theaters: the Annie remake, starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, and Cameron Diaz, due out on Christmas Day; Still Alice, starring hopeful Oscar nominee Julianne Moore and Kristen Stewart, which is due for a limited release in December and wide release in January; Mr. Turner, a Mike Leigh biopic of famed British artist J.M.W. Turner set to make its U.S. debut in December; and To Write Love on Her Arms, starring Kat Dennings and Chad Michael Murray, which isnt slated for release until sometime in 2015.According to Variety, piracy-tracking firm Excipio has calculated that Fury has logged more than 1.2 million downloads by unique IP addresses on various pirate sites, while Annie has amassed more than 206,000 downloads. Per Variety: The theft of Sony Pictures Entertainment content is a criminal matter, and we are working closely with law enforcement to address it, a Sony spokeswoman said in a statement to Variety. A source with knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the hacking earlier this week divulged that the multi-title leak is likely related to the hacking. Many of the leaked copies are watermarked. The attack on Sonys corporate computer systems happened on November 24. Law enforcement officials are reportedly investigating a possible connection between the hack and the studios planned December release of The Interview, the Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy about assassinating North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
