A health warning: Last week i started having excruciating pains on a tuesday. By thursday, with the pains and no sleep, i called an ambulance and went to A&E. After a scan, an ultra-sound and ex-rays, the extremely good doctor could only find a spinal disc out of place, but was suspicious that it might be...also something else. He did ask if i had any rash on my body, but i didnt at the time. So i was sent home with very strong analgesics, which did not get rid of my pains. 2 days later i had a rash. Because i had not been told that it could be shingles and i did not manage to see a doctor, in my surgery until wednesday, i only started treatment then. Please, if you had chicken-pox==Varicela, when you were small, you have every chance of having Shingles==(Herpes-Zoster) when you are older, and your immune system is low. The pains are extreme and its a lengthy recovery, i am told. There is a vaccine (i was not offered it on the NHS). But believe me , if i knew i would have paid for it.. So why dont we ask for the vaccine even if we pay for it? Most of us already have the flu jab before every winter.
