A house of straw sat among homes of brick and steel.. Not much to - TopicsExpress

A house of straw sat among homes of brick and steel.. Not much to look at, infact it was so small it looked like an old pile of hay next to a barn. I asked the young man sitting inside if we could talk and share thoughts. He was very polite and asked me in for some coffee. It was at the brake of dawn...before I could even speak the house was infused in rays of golden light from the ceiling to the floor. I was amazed...so incredibly beautiful. The Young man turned to me and said “it is the straw.” We started talking as though we were in a studio mic- ed up. Then I heard a horse call out...a long bellow of emotions... I lost tract and looked out the window into the field. There a beautiful palomino was talking to the other horses ...amazing! I turned to the young man and all he said was “it is the straw.” I asked him if he had an air conditioner and he laughed...”what is that he asked?” How does it stay so nice in here.. I pondered? He asked “are you talking about the temperature?” He said “it is from last nights rain and the cool breeze from the mountains..” I replied ...”its the straw.” I left his home wishing it was mine, I left a young man poor in the eyes of the world, but truly richer than anyone I have ever known. I left a simple house only to arrive to a tomb void of sound blocking out the world and keeping me from feeling a thing. For the first time I felt alone, for the first time I felt trapped....it is true, until you have seen the other side then you are blind to that which truly is amazing. I will have no problem selling my brick home, because the world is full of those wanting more at any price. Sadly I know I am going to have trouble finding a straw home for sale. penofpoet
